The box itself was used in several models, even generations, like all J6 & early J8 in the USA. Very strong box, claimed to be stronger than nearly everything available from the USA, even coping with turbo'd 1FZ-FE gasolines in J8. Other than the stock 5sp transmission, there is not much to complain about, other than that the later 1HD-(F)T(E) is even more fun to drive, especially when intercooled....more power, more rpm, more responsive (but rotary pump). (this also in the context that *if* you find this J6-J8 auto transmission, you might as well put the most powerfull TLC-diesel in front of it....;)) Trailer trash Corey Shuman The world's population grows by 75 million people each year and 3 million of them end up in the United States. That's why land for recreational use is shrinking... Oh, remember that this 12H-T exists in both 12 volt (Australia) and 24 volt (Japan-Europe). (J8-1HD-(F)T(E) was either 12v or a mixed 12v-alternator--system & 24v- start-circuit, so no problem when sourcing the transmission from a J8 (but Japan had auto-J6 and 24v, so that one might still cause problems)) Aguanga CA conflict more people, more scars upon the land I was going to respond to your post with an informative well thought out response about Motoventures and the good things Mr. Laplante has done for the sport of off road recreation...
