"cwoodbury" You must have got one built on monday or friday. If you paid $1200 for a converter, they saw you coming and ripped you off on that one. On the A-C, actually if you never do use it the seals in it can dry up (any brand too) and the freon can leak out (which also cools compressor too) and lead to early compressor failure, I have seen it happen before and on non chevies too. Hard to say on tranny but most of them fail to heat more than anything as factory tranny coolers are not very good. I have a 89 GMC 4x4 burb with 172k on it and tranny still works great and so does A-C. BTW, my wife bought a 2000 Jeep Cherokee (Chrysler product) new in the fall of the year and the A-C had to be replaced next spring so it can happen to any of them plus they never did fix it completely because I still have to top it off every year for peak performance.
