1988 Ford F150, 4.9L I6 300 4x4
kraker13 the engine will bolt the transmission just do some checking. you will probably have to get a flexplate-flywheel for the 5.8(351W). Is it an auto tranny or is it a manual?? If its a manual it could be any one of 3 different ones. If its a heavy gvw f150 it will have a ZF 5 speed. This is a granny 4spd with OD basically. If its a regular standard gvw F150 it will have a Mazda M5OD-R1 5 speed. If its a 4 speed it will be a borg warner T-18. which 34 ton has smoothest ride tks Pete, Hmm... Never heard of an air ride seat. Is that like a cushion or the whole seat? maybe I can use that on... You can tell by looking at the tranny case and going to www.novak-adapt.com and looking through their technical section. they got some nice photo's and info on all major 4x4 transmissions for the major brands. which 34 ton has smoothest ride I've got a 1-2 Suburban and I want to upgrade so I can tow more. Unfotunately, I also have some scarred... If its an Auto it will more then likely be an AOD. (automatic overdrive) non electronic. I Dont think in 88 they still had the C6 but its a possibility. The transfer case will more then likely be an New Process 208 (NP208) chain driven t-case. these are the most common found in the full size trucks. If its not that (can verify on novak website by the pics) It will be a Borg Warner unit. im not sure of the number i think its BW1345 but dont quote me on that. i always get the numbers mixed up with the ranger t-cases Either way the trans will bolt up. the only thing you will need are the frame stands and engine mounts from a v8 truck. all ford f150 v8 trucks have the same motor mounts wether its a 302 or 351W from 80-96 Hope that helps.
